UBUD
Map of Ubud

Most famous for its creative arts, museums, and community of famous artists, Ubud offers
another pacific sanctuary, a village life that is truly Balinese.
25 kilometers away from Denpasar, Ubud is only 45-minutes drive from the airport.
The area
is located higher up on the slope of a mountain, surrounded by the most beautiful rice fields in Bali,
and made up of a combination of steep ravines and deep rivers.
For those who prefer to travel on foot or by bicycle, Ubud is the best place to be.

During 1930s, Ubud, and Bali for all it matters, experienced an important era in the
development of creative arts.
A local Ubud prince, Cokorda Sukawati, who deeply concerns with the arts, founded the
Pita Maha Art Society together with the famous Walter Spies and Rudolf Bonnet. This Society has
become the symbol as well as the source of quality and superb creativity for the arts in Bali.
Since then, Bali’s most consummate artists, dancers, painters, musicians, writers, and carvers have made Ubud
