SANUR
Map of Sanur

Located around 10 km southeast from Denpasar, Sanur is a peaceful haven like nothing else in the island.

Historically, Sanur was a home for fishermen and holy priests from the highest caste, Brahmana. It was very famous for its magic and sorcery where many unusual rites were performed during ancient temples’ celebrations there. Today, many holy priests still live there, although Sanur itself has undergone major change since the last few decades.

Hotel Bali Beach was Bali’s first beach resort, built during the 1960s and still stands tall among hundreds of other hotels, restaurants, and houses crowding Sanur today.

In addition, the city has become a famous expatriate center. People from all over the world came to Bali and have created a unique and strong expatriate community in this area.

Places of interest/ Activities :

Le Mayeur’s Museum – used to be a house of the famous Belgian artist who lived in Sanur from 1932 to 1958 ; Open daily

Pulau Serangan – also known as the Turtle Island.

Sanur Beach Market – on the beach eating place collectively managed by locals; profits gained from this place go for the development of the local community in Sanur.
