DENPASAR
Map of Denpasar

The city has been designated as the capital city of Bali since Indonesia
gained its independence in 1945. It is also the largest and the busiest city on
the island where traditional life style of the Balinese blend together with modern urban life known to exist
in Jakarta, Surabaya, and other larger cities of Indonesia.
Denpasar has also become the government administrative center, where many
state banks, companies, and offices are all located.

The architecture of the building within Denpasar is an interesting point to observe.
Although the city itself has grown larger and larger in the last few years, the temples, the small shops and
the courtyards’ architectural design have remain the same since a long time ago. Denpasar, therefore, is the
best place in Bali to see how the past and the future melt with one another.
